Area 1
From the poster, the two pictures on top are showing two different subjects when talking about digital inclusion/discrimination. The one on the left is a depiction of how various information can be turned into ones and zeros that are then stored away. While the one on the left shows how big data and thick data can go together. For instance, when reading the article the complications of opting out it is shown how hard it is to try to keep one's private life as private. While from what we learned from big data vs. thick data by Tricia Wang we learn that programs that just use big data will not be successful enough unless they know what the local community actually thinks. Finally with the picture at the bottom is showing is how game design and culture can go together. Never alone was built to try and keep a culture's stories relevant as well as entertaining to the modern age. To keep the culture going. This all comes together to show that humans are always trying to know to keep their history alive. For some they want that history to stay hidden while others want it to be relevant while others try to recognize what is relevant and what is actually being missed from other perspectives. All in all, though information on life can have many different effects on people. This depends on who looks at that data and history behind it though.
Area 2
From my perspective information and history will always be there. No matter what nowadays it is almost impossible to stay out of the digital world. When I read about all the actions needed to be taken just to keep some simple information such as being pregnant hidden it is obvious that it is almost impossible to stay unknown. Companies will always want to have as much data as possible in order to better sell to their consumers. It was clever how the makers of never alone were able to keep a bit of their cultural inheritance alive be sharing it to the world as a game that can is both short and entertaining. We have also seen from Tricia Wang that just having data about a population and not information about the people living there can have detrimental effects. Nokia lost out on a massive market as well as their position in the economic niche they had. Data is always out there and it can tell you a history about yourself. If you want to hide some browsing sessions simply use a browser that does not track it. No matter what though with the advancements with the internet it is best to accept that some information about yourself is out there.
